The Society’s story goes back to 1991 when local history buffs noticed rapid demographic and building changes taking place in the Maleny area and decided to preserve the region’s historical record.
Meet our Management Committee
Meet the Society's new Management Committee. At the AGM on Monday 15 August 2022, the following office-holders were elected: L-R, Val Harvey (Treasurer), Kerry Lawley (President), Ray Stewart (Vice President), Laurelle Newton (Secretary), Betty Diefenbach (Vice Pesident).
Betty thanked the outgoing committee members for their dedication and professionalism in managing the Society during difficult times.
After a year of consolidation, the Society has several interesting projects which will be announced in the coming months.
In the typical style of this efficient management group, the recent AGM went smoothly and was followed by morning tea with delicious home-made biscuits, slices and sandwiches. Thanks to all involved.
The Historical Society launches new online home
It all begins with an idea. The Maleny Cultural & Historical Society sprang from the minds of a handful of Maleny locals with a passion for the history of our little town. In August 2022, another chapter opened for the Society with the launch of its new online home.
